The Islands Where We Left Our Ancestors
Joshua (he/him) is a multimedia artist, musician and graphic novelist living in nipaluna on palawa land, lutruwita (Tasmania). He is the author of graphic novels Swallows (2015) and cult favourite The Long Weekend in Alice Springs (2013) which won the Chief Minister’s non-fiction book award in the Northern Territory. His third graphic novel is released in July 2024 through Scribe Publications and is about human migration, family history and how gods are just stories.
Alongside close friend Natalya Bing, Josh is one half of the beloved experimental classical band Bing/Santospirito. They are known for creating cross-media performances for art festivals. Their first album ‘The Quoll’ was released on vinyl through Scratch Match Records; it was recorded live at St Davids Cathedral in Nipaluna/Hobart in 2021 as part of Mona Foma in a performance that featured Joshua’s paintings.
