Rest areas

We welcome caravan, camper van, and motorhome owners to enjoy the ultimate experience in Tasmania’s Central Coast. While we encourage visitors to use the local Caravan Parks, we’ve designated some rest areas for up to 3 nights. Tents aren’t allowed, only self-contained vehicles. Dump stations are located at Victoria Street (Ulverstone) and Stubbs Point (Penguin). We ask that that you please maintain these areas and leave them in the condition you found them.

Forth Recreation Ground
Discover the tranquility of Forth Recreation Ground, nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Forth. This camping site offers unpowered sites for a maximum stay of 3 nights, allowing travellers to immerse themselves in the natural splendour of the surrounding area. With facilities including toilets, picnic tables, and a playground, Forth Recreation Ground provides a peaceful retreat for travellers seeking a taste of the North-West Tasmanian countryside.

Midway Point – Sulphur Creek
Experience coastal serenity at Midway Point in Sulphur Creek, just a short drive from Penguin on Tasmania’s North-West Coast. Set amidst a large, grassed area overlooking the ocean, this self-contained caravanning site offers a picturesque setting for travellers seeking tranquility by the sea. Midway Point provides easy access to the beach and nearby fishing spots for a memorable coastal getaway. Please note, there are no amenities at the site itself, and all users must be completely self-contained.

Bannons Park – Gunns Plains
Immerse yourself in nature’s embrace at Bannons Bridge, a scenic camping site beside the Leven River. Offering clean drop toilets, picnic tables, and stunning waterfront views, this 3-night camp area invites travellers to relax amidst lush surroundings and abundant wildlife. Bannons Bridge promises an unforgettable camping experience in the heart of North-West Tasmania. Please note that users must be self-contained, and no tents are permitted.

Nicholson Point – Ulverstone
Stay right in town at Nicholson Point, a small free campground offering stunning views and easy access to the boat ramp. Located in Ulverstone, this site welcomes RVs and camper trailers, providing a serene setting for travellers to stop overnight.
