Workshop: Texture Collage - Hive School Holiday Program

Through play, explore the texture of found objects by experimenting with transfer techniques, combining media to create a collage.

This play based workshop engages children with textures around them, art materials, shading and composition. This is a hands-on art activity with no previous experience required.

This workshop will take place at Hive’s Studio 1 located on the Ground Floor.

Children will need to be at Hive by the designated start time. Accompanying adults are required to attend for primary school aged children and are welcome to participate in the activity.
Accompanying adults do not require an additional ticket.
On arrival, please check in at Hive Visitor Services.

THE JULY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS PROGRAM IS HERE!
The school holidays are just around the corner, and we have an amazing program of workshops to keep young minds busy during the winter break, including:

  • Water Colour 101: Learn water colour techniques and create a water colour painting to take home.

  • Solar Car Racing: Assemble a solar powered car – an introduction to electricity, motion and basic mechanics.

  • Kite Making: Create an exciting and simple kite out of common materials.

  • Print Making with Found Objects: Explore textures and transfer methods through printmaking using materials easy to find at home.

  • Textured Collage: Explore textures and combine media to create a collage.

  • Plaster Casting: Explore the material and form of found items, working with playdough or clay to create plaster objects.

  • 3D Modelling: Part sculpture, part manufacturing, participants in this workshop will sculpt a part out of plasticine for 3D printing!

  • 3D Sketching: Be introduced to ideation and presentation drawing techniques using pen and marker.

Workshops will be held daily at 10am and 2pm. All materials are supplied. Please check individual listings for recommended ages.
